Self Love & Care
Are you feeling overwhelmed? You're not alone!
My schedule used to be going to work, the gym, yoga classes, and attending support groups along with dining out with my husband and friends.
This is a photo of me at a craft fair years ago. Of course, shows are not happening now; and this is the time for the holiday shopping season.
More important though is that we each need to take care of ourselves. You can't help someone else if you're not feeling well.
What are you doing to take care of yourself?
- Exercise
- Meditation/Prayer
- Fun time
- Talking to friends and family (virtually or by phone)
- Taking "YOU" time
We're used to seeing and interacting with co-workers and friends.
Working at home is a wonderful commute, and I don't mind hanging with my feline co-workers, but my routine is severely disrupted. It's difficult for me to keep up with work, household chores, exercising, beading, and promoting my business.
Don't beat yourself up!
Accept that there are only a certain amount of hours (after) work to get things done. We're all living the "new normal" and it's a journey.
- Prioritize the top thing you need to do today
- Add 1 thing you WANT to do, like watching 1 Netflix show or movie (for me, it's best to limit the time to 1-2 hours)
- Get off the computer, phone, tablet or other
- Go outside
There are resources for schedules (for parents who are homeschooling and others) like this one from calendar.com. I love that it includes "Afternoon fresh air."
While I'm doing well in the areas of praying, studying Torah, listening to Etsy coaches, and watching funny videos posted on Facebook, there are areas I need to improve:
- Posting a new blog at least once a week
- Make time to do my yoga
- Photograph and list designs
- I'm grateful to be a breast cancer survivor
- I'm thankful to be working from home
- I'm glad I dropped off my election ballot
Here's a relaxing cat video for you to watch and listen to. It helps me to breathe deeply and let go.
Here's a positive affirmation video that I like.
What are you doing for self care?
