Simchat Torah

After the 7 days of Sukkot, is the holiday of Shemini Atzeret: the ancient, "eighth day of assembly" following the Festival of Sukkot.

The next day is Simchat Torah ("Rejoicing in the Torah") a later celebration of completing the annual cycle of Torah reading, and starting over. This joyous milestone is marked with dancing, traditionally following seven circuits known as hakafot, as the Torah scrolls are held aloft.

The holiday is seen as a "wedding" between the Jewish people and the Torah, symbolizing an enduring and joyful bond with its teachings.

Simchat Torah is a significant holiday, occurring immediately after Sukkot, and marks the joyful conclusion of the fall holiday season.

As I'm writing this post, there is the possibility that 20 hostages will be returned to Israel, if Hamas upholds its end of the deal. May it be G-d's will that this happens soon. Then the house of Israel can really be joyful.
