I think Mel is one of the greatest Jewish comedians, writers and filmmakers. His work always makes me laugh.
FYI, three of his films are on the American Film Institute's list of the top 100 comedy films of the past 100 years (1900–2000), Blazing Saddles #6, The Producers #11 and Young Frankenstein #13. (These are 3 of my favorite movies that he made.
Brooks was married to actress Anne Bancroft from 1964 until her death in 2005. Mel is one of 21 entertainers to win the EGOT (which includes an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony)
